God is in Control

I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.  Philippians 4:13

As much a I try to take control of things, I am really trying to "Let Go and Let God".  It is so hard to do because that means I am having to fully rely on Him.  However, as we are learning in Church, we either trust God with a theological trust or we trust Him with practical trust.  I can theologically trust Him all day long....that's easy!!  But putting that trust into practice....that's HARD!!!

We have had a lot of discouragement with having to change the location of our Silent Auction and still not knowing where we are going to have it, to having to change the date....twice, to coming upon the deadline of when the money is due and still being so far behind, to many other obstacles that satan has tried to throw in our path.  However, I am trying to keep my head up and realize that God is in control.  Thankfully, He already knew we were going to have to change our location.  Thankfully, He already knows where we are going to hold it.  Thankfully He knows what we owe.  So, I am letting go and I am letting God take control.

With that being said, we have had so many positive things happen that I couldn't possibly take the time to list them all.  But we have had an amazing number of people donate money, items for the silent auction, things for us to sell to earn money and the list goes on and on.  Right now as it stands, we are in need of $4230 to send to New Horizon's just to get the children to Atlanta.  At a later date, we will need more funds to pay the connection flight to get them into RDU, to purchase clothing and shoes for them (as they come with what is on their back) and to buy some items for them for Christmas.  I am just guesstimating that to be approx. $1500 more.  These seem like big numbers for me...I can't even wrap my brain around it.  However, it is nothing to God.

Please prayerfully consider joining us for our Silent Auction on Nov 19th from 5-7pm.  The location is still TBD but we hope to have that secured this week.  It will be a great night of food, fun and fellowship plus a great opportunity for you to get your Christmas shopping started as most auction items end well below their value!  We are asking for a $5 donation for a hot dog plate ($20 max per family) and hope that you will walk away with some fabulous gifts.  Here is just a short list of items that will be available at the auction.  Once we have baskets put together, I will start posting pictures and/or descriptions.

  1. Do you have an active giving account that directs the funds to NHFC for a tax deductible donation? If so, can you please send me the link.
